Well here we are!!  Blogger contest for February!  We have been working and working all month.  We hope that the job that we picked will do it.....here we go!  At first the order was for 100 shirts, but YES! the quantity was raised as we started the order!! We were sooooo excited! Let's hope we are close or over the top!!!

Got the art ready to go in Adobe Photoshop.  Printed our films out on Ryonet water-proof film, we use the 13" wide by 100 feet roll with our Epson Pro 7800 printer.  After getting our films printed and ready...we burned on 156 screens the 2 different backs and one front.  West End.  They had changed their minds several times on the art, but we were ready now.  Kevin and Amy were ready to split their time and get this job done.

Screens were now loaded on our 6 color Hopkins International.  We inherited this press in a business deal and rebuilt it.  After loading and aligning the screens...the shirts were in.  Port and Company--NOW WE ARE COOKING WITH GAS!!

Ryonet black ink was our ink of choice.  And boy were we excited to get this going, going, going.....

So here we are...can't believe its the end of November.  So much has happened.  Now we are back to blogging full time :-) Ok so part-time, but blogging none the less.

We talked recently about the Hopkins 6 color press that we aquired, and thanks to Ryonet for having replacement parts and enabling us to get it up and running like new!!  Also we acquired a Harco conveyor dryer.  Been stored for a year and works.  Won't fit into our shop, so if your in the Western Washingion area and are interested in this Harco, please let us know.  The looks aren't great, but everything I have researched the Harco is a good machine.  Make us an offer!!    Here is a picture, looks a little tough, but works great.

So needless to say we now have the 6 color press up and running, we have the 4 color silver press up and running and a single station hobby press as well.  We are feeling like a real shop!!  Amy and Kevin have been able to put in several hours lately too, which is a great blessing.  We really enjoy the work and being able to help out families make their dreams come true.

On top of getting all of this up and running, we were blessed with a Black Body Little Buddy conveyor dryer.  We never expected to being stepping up to this level this fast.  And we are so excited for everything to come together.  Th is the 240 volt version.  What a blessing we have gone from 20 shirts hour to over 70 shirts an hour!  Ryonet had it all put together for us and we drove down to Vancouver, WA to pick up from their home office!!  Thank you Ryan for all  your help in getting us in this dryer.  What a blessing---I could say that over and over.  And thank you to the anonymous donor, you know who you are,  we appreciate it more than words can say!!!!  Thank you!

So we have been so focused on building up the shop and getting things lined up, its been amazing.  The growth and expansion that God has bestowed upon us.  WOW!  That is all we can say!  Amy and I want to thank everyone for their love and support.  It's been absolutely amazing!

Below you will find pictures of the shop and equipment.  We have been heavily using Ryonet's supplies, but we have also bought Midwest Sign and Screenprinting Supplies white plastisol ink.  We seem to have better coverage on black (which has been a lot of our jobs lately) with less passes of ink with the Midwest white ink.  I will post more about that later this weekend.

Ok!  Sooo...gear up lots of changes for us and we are going to be kickin' the blog posts!  Also be watching as we re-visit the exposure unit, we have purchased the bulbs from Ryonet and all the balasts from Home Depot.  So we are gearing up to put that together here shortly!!!

Thanks to the Ryonet Solutions Team.......

Cobb and Brandon came by to check in on us and what we had going on here in our garage!  The Ryonet Solutions Team!!  Thank you for stopping by.   They discussed white ink as we are having some difficulty with full coverage.  They had some great tips and information.  And off they went like white knights to their next mission!

We are in the process of rebuilding a 6 color old Hopkins 8 station press....yep that's what I said OLD.  Brandon and Cobb were quite surprised!  We acquired it from a gentleman who had been storing it for quite sometime.  Kevin is working hard on getting it up and running.  As Amy, Kevin, and I continue to work off the silver press.  As soon as we get everything re-arranged we can get the conveyor dryer in then we will upgrade our silverpress to a 2 station....coming soon.  This Hopkins has been an interesting find.  And thank you to Ryonet for supplying the much needed parts for the rebuild!  Along with McClendon's nuts and bolts, Tacoma Screw, and Harbor Freight Tools...we have everything that we need.  Some wire brushing and assembly--then its time to build some platens to go all the way around!

Can't wait til we can do some 6 color jobs!!  A video coming soon on our rebuilding adventure...and don't give up still building the exposure box!

Off the radar........and now we are back full force!

So we have been off the radar a little bit.  A very dear friend of mine had a terrible tragedy that all parents worry about all the time, their child going missing.  She dropped her son off at WWU and 6 days later he vanished.  10 days after that he was found in the Bellingham waterway.  It was a very grueling 10 days.  We watched miracles come through as hundreds of people from all over came to help search for him.  People came together that didn't know Dwight or his family, or eachother for that matter.

We were so overwhelmed by the generosity of so many.  What businesses, people, and communities could do when they come together.  Dwight was an amazing young man.  With so much ambition....he wanted to be an engineer, he loved making movies of skateboarding and editing videos on software and creating some wonderful movies.

He was so ambitious and touched everyone he came into contact with.  His friends stood at the memorial on Sunday and poured their hearts to everyone and their fun stories.  We laughed and we cried.  But through it all we have learned so much.  Mainly don't take anyone for granted.  Make faith, love, kindness, and generosity the center of all that you do.  People shined throughout these 3 weeks.  Although none of us will be the same with Dwight gone, especially his mother and brother, but we will all be better for knowing him and being touched by him.

Dwight created "FOREVERGREEN Apparel" with his best friend Gavin.  We have selected 2 of his designs to use for fundraising purposes.  Dwight wanted an indoor or covered skate park for kids and adults of all ages to be able to come and skate 365 days a year.  We are helping make that dream come true.  Check out FIND Dwight Clark on FACEbook or click on this link to get to the shirts page.

We are printing "FOREVERGREEN Apparel" with Ryonet Opaque ink.  Thank you Ryonet!

I am sorry that we haven't been on board blogging as much as we should but, we are back on track and have a PURPOSE.

We love and miss you DWIGHT, but will continue your legacy!

Time, Time, Time....oh where does it go????

Wow!  Where has the time gone?  The clock ticks the same amount of time on a daily basis, but good grief!!  There isn't enough time in the day, week, month, year..........oh where, oh where!!

We are working on some new jobs, here are some of the art that we are working on.  One thing I wanted to point out is we use Adobe products: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Acrobat, Roland Cutstudio, and Adobe Photoshop.

We are learning a ton on this software and are always on the hunt for tips and tricks....so if you have any thing to share with us please do. The most insteresting thing that we have had to deal with lately is completely recreating art for customers.

From low resolution to very very low resolution jpg, tif, and other file types.  Thanks to Ryonet training we were able to really accompmlish some great techniques in getting the art in the format that matters.

We have some really cool thing coming soon some signs and some shirts...but watch here for more .....lots of fun ahead...here is a slideshow of some of what we have been doing.  Stickers, shirts and signs.  The plot map is one we just re-created and will put on a banner the glassblowers and the cross design are for tshirts...things are coming together!!

To market or not to market that is the question...advertise?  per click advertising....or just plain old world of mouth?

We are working on the word of mouth technique....do the job 100 percent the first time so that job brings you many more jobs...and more jobs and more jobs.

Give your friends shirts with your designs so that they can get people saying "hey where did you get that shirt."  Also give them to your family and friends of your kids and friends of their friends.

market market market....what are you all doing...more to come as we are back up and online.

Lights went out in Puyallup

08/17/2010

We aren't quite ready with our exposure unit -- but the lights went out!  Yes our makeshift light exposure unit (500 watt x 2 halogen lights) blew! So.....believe it or not because we had a job that had a deadline we had to do something and do it quick...shockingly enough the weather has been so sunny we were able to expose the screen in the sunlight.

I know not the perfect situation or the real way to do it, but guess what....it worked in the heat of the moment and were able to get the order out on time.  Mind it you it was a small order, but hey timeliness is the key right??  So who knew not only can you burn up things with a magnifine glass with the sun, you can expose screens.  The screen started to breakdown on the last shirt...so didn't last as long as if you do it the right way, but it worked!! and that was a success story we really needed to have that particular moment....

stay tuned for more excitement with us 2 Gals Ink';n!!!

Adventures in Screen printing.....Water, Water EVERYWHERE!

Good morning, yes morning its 12:20 am.  Hey all my Ryonet Blogging buddies, have you ever had this happen?? Been working on our web site, and heard a strange sound like something running.  Thought it was the refridgerator....went on the hunt -- sink NO, Oven-NO, washing machine-NO, dryer NO.  To my dismay water was pouring out from under the screen room door.  What could have gone wrong?  As I slowly opened the door, water was spraying out of all sides of the pressure washer hose....water was running out of the room down the garage floor under appliances, boxes, blankets, EVERYTHING was wet.

Since we are attached to where we work...its pretty obvious as you walk around.

Water was running from under the door and into everything in its path!  So needless to say...lesson learned don't keep your pressure washer on the "ON" mode, shut it down everytime your done.  Now we have a blown gasket to top it off....oh what fun!  Clean up at midnight a pile of laundry to wash now tomorrow....and LESSON LEARNED!!

I wonder if Ryonet has a mini-training on the correct way to shut off your pressure washer or how to shut down your screen room when complete??  We could have definately used those tips with this adventure.....let me tell you in this business everyday is a new adventure....how fun!
